I have killed my fair share of plants to really understand which plants are capable of thriving under my care. Having said that, I am still in the process of growing a green thumb. I am not an expert at it, but I will definitely share the plants that I have found to be the easiest to care for. Trust me, these are the ones that you just can’t kill. These are my champions of the champions.
SNAKE PLANT
Sansevieria or popularly known as the “Snake plant”. Most hardy of houseplants, these are the ones that can survive in all conditions.
Snake plants thrive on neglect and hence are perfect for people who are just starting as new plant parents.
Care Tips:
a. Sunlight: Snake plants prefer indirect steady light but can also survive low light conditions as well as can adapt to full sun.
b. Water: Snake plants are extremely drought tolerant. Hence water this plant only when the soil is dry. Over watering will kill this plant. Try watering once every other week.
ZZ PLANT
Zamioculcas or popularly known as the “ZZ plant” is on the top of my list of houseplants as they are perfect for any new plant parent. It’s very difficult to kill a ZZ, take my word for it!
Care Tips:
a. Sunlight: ZZ plants thrive in bright, indirect light but can also survive in low-light conditions. Do not place your ZZ in direct sunlight. Too much direct sun will dry out the leaves.
b. Water: Since these are very low maintenance plants, they require very little care or water. Allow the soil to dry between watering and avoid standing water. We water our ZZ plants, once a week in summer. You can water them once in 2 weeks too. Do not over-water.
DIEFFENBACHIA
Dieffenbachia or “Dumb cane” plant makes a great tropical houseplant. It is one of the easiest indoor houseplants you will ever have the pleasure of caring for and maintaining. Doesn’t matter what month or season, it will thrive nonetheless.
Care Tips:
a. Sunlight: Dieffenbachia does well in indirect sunny areas and does not need much sunlight. It will although thrive in bright indirect light.
b. Water: This plant needs regular watering but do not over-water. Allow the soil to dry between waterings.
PHILODENDRON “LEMON LIME”
Probably the most popular of all the plants we own in our house. Philodendron lemon lime (from the pothos family) is one of the more brightly colored philodendron that you may or may not be able to find locally.
Care Tips:
a. Sunlight: Pothos thrive the best in bright indirect light. Do not expose it to direct sunlight.
b. Water: It needs regular watering but only when the top layer of the soil is dry. Through spring and summer, the soil should be kept moist but during winter the soil should be allowed to dry out between waterings.
BURRO’S TAIL
Burro’s tail or Donkey tail plant is one of the beautiful looking succulents and very easy to care plants for the newly plant parents.
Care Tips:
a. Sunlight: These plants love very bright indirect light.
b. Water: These plants need to be watered regularly, mostly once a week. Give the plant a very thorough watering and then wait for the soil to dry before watering again.
JADE PLANT
Jade plant works as a great succulent plant and as a bonsai plant as well. Prune and pinch the Jade to keep the plant bushy. It develops very fast and adapts to many styles.
Care Tips:
a. Sunlight: These plants also require very bright indirect light. So keep them in a well light sunny spot.
b. Water: Jade plants can survive long periods without water. Water only when the top layer of the soil is dry. Do not over-water.

Loved the entire aesthetic of your home! 😍✨ Waiting for more posts about how to design TV Unit area and bedroom. Quick question, is it okay, to have Fiddle Leaf Fig Plant in my home or is it outdated by 2019?☺
Thank you so much! I am glad you like it 🙂 About the Fiddle Leaf Fig Plant, it will work just fine in any space but yes I feel like the trend is coming to an end since its been seen all over Pinterest and spaces that have been designed in the past few years. And no matter how beautiful and aesthetically different the space is, a Fiddle makes it look the same since they are pretty large and take some room. Just my opinion on it 😉 I haven’t ever used it in any space since it isn’t very easy to care for.
